2022 - Present
Exciting News! Our Project in Fontmell Magna has just received planning approval! We are thrilled to share this milestone and the unique design that sets this project apart. Let's delve into some of the standout design ideas that caught the attention of the planning authorities:
The building form replicates the charm of a small holding, featuring larger barn-type buildings connected by smaller link buildings. This design approach creates a visually appealing and harmonious composition.
The use of local materials and extensive landscaping ensures that the design seamlessly blends with its surroundings, embracing the beauty of the context.
The main body of the building, with its gabled roof and cladding, showcases traditional architectural elements. The lofted openings on the east and west elevations add character and allow for ample natural light.
The south flint projection accommodates the main kitchen and living areas, accompanied by a charming courtyard garden to the east, perfect for a delightful kitchen garden.
The adjacent barn, constructed with flint, houses bedrooms on the ground floor and features a single-storey gabled roof running east to west. A modest single-storey link connects this element to the main building.
The cladded barn element to the east serves as a garage and houses plant spaces, connected to the main building via a single-storey link.
Along the main driveway, exterior walls break down the massing of the plot, creating smaller landscaped areas and defining the boundary between formal gardens and wild meadows.
Sustainability is at the core of our design, with considerations such as the use of local materials, high levels of insulation, energy efficiency, and the potential integration of renewable energy and rainwater harvesting.
We are grateful for the planning approval and the opportunity to create a truly remarkable and sustainable dwelling in Fontmell Magna. Stay tuned for updates as we bring this exceptional vision to life!
